Description

And the five poets of political poems included in this collection have something to say against the regime of their time.

The first three harshly criticize the tsarist regime that supported the powerful. Rageshski joined the movement of the senior officers - the Decembrists as they were called, because they rebelled in December - who had the main demand to give the people a constitution. Pushkin gives courage to the Decembrists, Nekrasov clarifies to the young Vania that it was not Lord Claymichel who built the railway lines, as his father claims, but the poor people with their sweat, thus criticizing the tsar who liberated the serfs without giving them land. Blok observes the anarchy of the first era and protests. On the contrary, the provocative Yesenin opposes in the turbulent October of the revolution some other "more creative" October that founded the imperial lyceum without caring that only nobles studied there. The central point in the last two poets is their protest against the dissolution of the Constitutional Commission that was formed after the February Revolution with the aim of holding elections, organizing the administration, and drafting a constitution.

The anthologized poets are:
- Vladimir Rageshski
- Alexander Pushkin
- Nikolai Nekrasov
- Alexander Blok
- Sergei Yesenin
