Description

"Great Figures of Literature" have a dramatic and tender past at the same time: During the dictatorship, specifically in 1969 and 1970, as Tassos Livaditis was forced to make a living as a journalist, he published his "monographs" about the writers and poets of this volume in a miscellaneous magazine. However, his name was forbidden by the Junta, so he used the pseudonym "A. Rokos" in his texts. In the disastrous "conjuncture" of the dictatorship, our great post-war poet found the opportunity to compose the literary portraits of the book: portraits full of tenderness, pain, humanity, and poetic encounter; portraits of creators who were the founders of not only the poetic face of our country but also a moral and spiritual example in the hundred and thirty years of Greek life.

The writing of these portraits, thanks to its philanthropic "spirit," constitutes a strong challenge to the inhumane climate of that time, while the collection of these rare and unknown texts pays tribute to a great poet who humbly and reverently bent over the work of his older colleagues: all those who "forged" the continuous flow of blood that transforms poetry into the wine and bread of our lives.
