Description

When the word "Civil War" is mentioned, usually two types of reactions are provoked: Some choose to change the subject of discussion or awkwardly withdraw.

Others see it as an opportunity to express their beliefs and often the discussion devolves into heated debates.

However, how well do we know this tragic period, which remains the pivotal point of our modern History? Why do we continue to avoid it or approach it with sarcastic comments on social media, instead of studying it with calmness and objectivity?

In a book as captivating as a movie, distinguished historian Dr. Andre Gerolymatos analyzes not only the few years of battles, but starts from the roots of the National Division and reaches the deafening cries that are heard today in the Greek Parliament for Meligalas and Grammos.
With a unique, original narration, based on recently declassified documents from Greece, the United States, and British secret services, the author proves that the Civil War was - above all - an international war and the first act of the Cold War.

And, ignoring the sirens of political science, he reveals an excellent mural of the bloodiest war of our country. A mural that impresses, provides food for thought, and offers the opportunity to take a few steps forward.

The author, with vivid descriptions and directness in writing, manages to transport the reader to this tumultuous moment in Greek History and almost turn them into an eyewitness of the events. [...] A reading that truly achieves a calm and unbiased look at the Civil War.

Kyriakos Mitsotakis

Andre Gerolymatos connects all the invisible threads with a brilliant depiction and with impeccable clarity proposes a journey to the roots of the Civil War as well as its impact on modern everyday life.

Very interesting book. It focuses on the events of the civil war with impartiality and objectivity. There are definitely many books on the subject, but this one must be read as it presents the atrocities committed by both sides. I highly recommend it.

For anyone who is tired of hearing left and right arguing with each other.
Fully objective, presenting the pros and cons of each faction of the era as well as the events that led to the civil war.
