Description

"A necessary condition for us to exercise radical criticism of capitalist modernity today and to resist the forms of synthetic life that it tries to impose on us is to embrace, without guilt, a certain dose of critical conservatism. This is, in any case, the message of Orwell. And it is up to us to give to his "conservative anarchism" the philosophical position that it deserves within the various struggles of the new Resistance." (Z.-K. Misea)

In the texts of this book, Z.-K. Misea deals with the intellectual portrait of Orwell and the political and theoretical legacy he leaves us. The difficulty of his literary heroes to resist totalitarianism is combined with the ethical imperative of democratic socialism, the culture of the popular classes, as well as the concepts of patriotism and common decency, which the great English writer defends in his essays.
Misea believes that it is possible for one of the most transparent analysts of totalitarianism to remain at the same time an uncompromising enemy of the capitalist order of things; that he can strongly defend equality without, nevertheless, sharing the "progressive" and "modernizing" illusions in the name of which the destruction of the world is now being promoted.
