Hupa screw-in umbrella base made of reinforced plastic for easy setup of the umbrella on the beach.

It does its job just fine. You dig a hole, you put it in by screwing it as much as possible, and then you pour sand on top of it. In combination with a hupa umbrella and the special hooks it has to tie it to the sand, it didn't budge even with a lot of wind. The only downside that happened to me is that the sand got stuck inside the mechanism and the pole doesn't come out at all... so now it's one piece.
I borrowed it because I didn't know if the shovel I had ordered would be good. It went into a beach with thick sand effortlessly, but it also came out effortlessly. Admittedly, the worst-case scenario for this particular product. It wouldn't go into a beach with fine sand and pebbles. To be fair, after the vacation, I tried it on damp soil in the garden. It struggled, and I was afraid it would break. I stopped because it was borrowed. I think it's only suitable for beaches with fine sand; otherwise, it requires additional steps (digging, cleaning, possibly wetting to make the sand heavier).
Small in size and lightweight.
It can be easily carried in the bag along with the umbrella without causing extra weight like a heavy base, for example.
.
It screws relatively easily even on pebble beaches but it needs its own technique.
These side ears are quite sensitive and require a little attention to avoid breaking. (I'm used to screwing it without opening them, it's not difficult)
It holds the umbrella in place but it needs to be screwed until the turns of the screw are completely covered in order to grip well on the ground.
It is also good to have one or two strings to hold the umbrella from the edges in places where there is strong wind.
.
Overall, the advantage of its small size/weight is offset by the extra attention needed during placement.
.
I have had it for 2 years now and although I was initially afraid of it, with a little practice it is quite good.
My evaluation is based on the one-time use of the base. The first time I attempted to use it, it broke at the junction point of the thick plastic with the black plastic of the drill. This happened when I tried to insert it into the beach in order to then put the umbrella, that is, when I rotated it with my hands. The result was that it became completely useless as a product, so I simply took it out and threw it away. I will probably buy something metallic so that I don't regret hitting it to nail it and it doesn't break so easily.
