Despite its seemingly low cost and 'fake' construction, I can say that it has been working perfectly fine for 2 years now.
I have the USB-C version for connection to a MacBook.
I insert the memory card from my camera and immediately see the photos on my Mac.
No need to download any programs or anything.
For amateur use, it's great.If you want it for serious professional use, of course it makes sense to get something theoretically more reliable.
