ASTONISHING!!! It is the second book of Fitzek that I am reading and I will start the third. Incredibly easy to read and it keeps you hooked until the end. I finished it in 2 days. I wanted to read it leisurely, but it wouldn't let me at all.
I have read the experiment by the same author and because I liked it a lot, I decided to read this one as well, which also has very good reviews.
It keeps your interest throughout and the ending is quite surprising.
But... you reach the last sentence of the book and you say WTF... If someone understood what actually happened, please tell us because I missed it.
I do not understand the bad reviews. Perhaps they read the book expecting what truth? As another reviewer mentioned, until shortly before the end, I thought I had understood everything, but because this particular author has a tendency to make crazy twists, I had reservations. Indeed, worthy!
The many good reviews led me to buy it and okay... they were right after all. I read reviews like "the finale was mind-blowing" and "major plot twists..." and I was wondering as I was reading it. At first, I didn't like it that much because it seemed too easy. I saw a nice structure in the scenes but I thought I had figured it all out. Definitely, there is coherence and suspense. But it doesn't stop there. The finale is indeed surprising, it caught me off guard to the point where I smiled because when I reached the 100th page, I believed I had understood everything and I was reading it somewhat lazily from that point on. It was a rocking chair that kept rocking me. Until the last chapters where the author does a nice dribble, you just don't know how it will end. I had in mind "Secret Window, Secret Garden" by Stephen King, written in 1990 (and also made into a movie in 2004 with Johnny Depp), and I thought that the author liked it and built upon the idea of the book to create his own that would resemble Stephen King's idea. But in the end, the author surprised me and I'm glad for the twist because I thought it was predictable like a car that has been flashing its turn signal for miles. It's the first book I read by Fitzek and I think I will buy more of his because besides being considered his best... the lady at the bookstore told me that all his books are in a similar style! Seriously, start it and just let it guide you (it took me a day, it won't take you more than two or three days because in every chapter, it throws something at you and you say you'll read a little more until you reach the end). As you read it, and no matter how much you think you see the answers in front of you, don't rush like I mistakenly did... you will be wrong. Fitzek really knows how to write well.
Very good psychological thriller! It keeps you in suspense, makes you wonder about the future, and the twists and turns make it impossible to put down. Easy to read, straightforward writing, and without too many details that tire you out. Buy it!
I bought the book after reading the good reviews! I have read several books of this genre and I can say that this was one of the worst! It is true that it keeps you in suspense, but at some points, you feel like a child is writing it! As for the ending, even though I read from many people that it is surprising, in many parts of the book, you can understand what is happening and therefore, what will happen at the end.... An okay book for vacations, but that's it!
Another excellent psychological thriller by Fitzek.. Fast-paced development without tiring the reader makes them create their own scenarios about what exactly might be happening, for many twists to come at the end, as the author usually does.
The biggest potato I have ever read. 10 years ago the book was released and it flopped, marketing took over and made it a bestseller, you will waste time and money staying away.

Having read many books in this genre, I can say that I find most of them somewhat predictable. This book kept me on the edge of my seat from beginning to end, unable to predict what would happen next. The ending is so unexpected that it left me with my mouth wide open! Overall, this particular author writes very directly without boring with excessive and unnecessary descriptions. It's worth every last penny you spend on it!
