After his car accident, Billy Rivers spends a lot of time reading alone in the Hitchcock Public Library. Until he discovers a strange bookstore, The Haunted House of Books. There he meets its mysterious and eccentric owner and learns about the contest that invites readers to spend an entire night in the bookstore, listening to a story so dreadful, so heinous, so horrifying, that it forever changes the life of anyone who hears it. Because it is, perhaps, the most terrifying story of all time.
