Description

How is the identity of Greek fiction shaped after the "explosion" that occurred in the last quarter of the twentieth century, and what is its position in a landscape of increasing globalization and dominance of English-speaking culture?
The texts in this volume explore the new morphological and thematic topographies of Greek fiction and attempt to place it on the literary map of the West, guided by contemporary trends in critical theory (from feminism and postmodernism to post-colonial and cultural criticism). A parallel goal is the critical presentation of the ways of dissemination and prospects of Greek fiction abroad. The intellectual axis of this edition is therefore the knowledge of oneself through the encounter and juxtaposition with the (multiple) other, the reading of Greek fiction through foreign literatures and international theories.
The "mapping" of such intersections and orientations, through comparative studies, reflections, and personal testimonies, is undertaken by a plethora of academic researchers, government officials, critics, translators, and writers, key contributors to today's literary scene.
