The criterion and ideal of the liturgical editions remains the blessed handwritten tradition of our church, where the liturgical book has been the fruit of love, knowledge, labor in prayer, and sanctified inspiration.
This edition is an attempt in this direction. The text has been improved based on the edition of the Ecumenical Patriarchate, updated as much as possible according to the findings of recent studies on the liturgical elements, which have been incorporated into the "Apostolos" - that is, its contents, the alleluias of the Gospel, the antiphons of the major feasts, the entrance hymns, and the communions. The decoration has been done based on patterns found in manuscripts of Mount Athos and supplemented with relevant images of the Byzantine tradition. At the same time, typographic solutions were sought that are suitable for the sacred text and facilitate the reader. Finally, the best publishing tools available were used. We hope that this volume contributes to the elevation of the level of contemporary Orthodox liturgical editions.
