Description

In the series of teaching aid books "Language Exercises in Ancient Greek", this book for the 2nd Gymnasium is released, which is structured according to the 18 units of the textbook "Ancient Greek Language 2nd Gymnasium" and includes a brief theory on etymological, grammatical, syntactic, and lexical-semantic phenomena, as well as a multitude of exercises for their consolidation.
Specifically, the following topics are developed:
-Etymology: word composition, compound words, derived words, other ways of word formation, and changes in word meaning.
-Grammar: 3rd declension of nouns, 3rd declension of adjectives, subjunctive, optative, and imperative active and middle voices of heavy verbs, definite future and subjunctive, optative, and imperative present of the verb "to be", reflexive pronouns, possessive pronouns, the interrogative pronouns "who", "what", the indefinite pronouns "who", "what", and the relative pronouns "who", "which", "what".
-Syntax: sentence and clause connection, impersonal syntax, direct and indirect objects, adverbial and predicative participles, types of specifications, appositive attributive specifications, appositive predicative specifications, adverbial specifications, and prepositional adverbial specifications.
-Lexicon: the basic words are listed in the Lexical Tables along with their derivatives.
For each etymological, grammatical, syntactic, and lexical-semantic phenomenon, numerous and varied exercises are provided (most of them in the form of notebook sheets), which are simple but also complex, easy but also somewhat difficult, and their solution, with the active participation and initiative of the student, directly contributes to the consolidation of the material provided. Thus, the student, by referring to the appropriate unit, will find the suitable exercises to comprehend and assimilate the new material and to better understand the Grammar and Syntax of Ancient Greek, which is a fundamental prerequisite for his/her training in ancient Greek language, resulting in achieving the best performance in the Ancient Greek subject.
In a special appendix at the end of the book, the answers to the exercises are provided by units, so that the student, by referring to them, can be certain about the correctness of the solution.
