The publication of the most important collections of primary historical sources regarding Venetian rule in the Greek territory and the Eastern Mediterranean is a constant demand of the research community. The sources of this field include the reports of the highest administrators of the individual possessions of the Most Serene Republic in the examined area. This volume includes those reports concerning the Venetian Kingdom of Cyprus (1489-1571). They were compiled by Venetian patricians who participated in the highest administrative structure of the island (protectors and their councils, captains of Famagusta, and general provveditori) and were discovered by the historian Stathis Birtachas in archives and manuscript collections in Venice.

The work includes an extensive and informative introduction, which aims to discuss both the institutions that produced the published texts and the nature and themes developed in them. It is followed by the diplomatic edition of the reports, summaries of them in Greek, as well as well-documented lists of the Venetian officials who served in Cyprus. The introduction and summaries of the reports are also provided in English translation, a choice that makes the work accessible to the international research community. The publication is completed with a detailed index of personal and place names, as well as thematic terms from the published reports.
