  -Incredible book, awesome stories!
  -I'm not a person who reads books and yet it's the first one that captivated me and in 3 weeks I read 300 pages..
  -It provides details that make you create images in your mind based on what it describes, plus there is a map on the last pages that helps you navigate and look at the places mentioned in the story, along with a dictionary with various word interpretations and translations..
  -Excellent book, I will also get the next books in chronological order!
  -Show some patience for the first 15-20 pages and later on, from a certain point, you realize that reading it is not a waste of time! Excellent.

  The review is about readers who are not familiar with the series:

  The book refers to events that happened long before the Lord of the Rings series and specifically begins with the creation of the entire world. It is an impressive book and the way Tolkien describes the creation of the series' world and its evolution is truly magical.

  However, the book is quite difficult to read as a story. Initially, Tolkien refers to a huge number of landscapes, which he can describe for entire pages. Additionally, there is a barrage of names and cities/landscapes, and due to Tolkien's mastery of language, there are many creatures that are related and their names have the same root, such as Tur - Turin.

  I would recommend it to readers who would like to further expand the world of the Lord of the Rings.

  Tolkien wrote The Silmarillion throughout his entire life. Yet, he did not manage to complete it. The book is essentially the lore of the world Tolkien created. It explains how the world was created and evolved, leading up to the events of The Lord of the Rings (and The Hobbit) in the Third Age, although it does not specifically write about those events.

  The book is based on and primarily deals with the Ancient Days, and then the First Age, which is when most of the stories are set, thousands of years before the events of The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit. It is during this First Age that the greatest heroes who have ever existed in Tolkien's world lived, including the greatest Dark Lord, Morgoth (the Lord of Sauron). Unfortunately, Tolkien writes very little about the Second and Third Ages. However, he has written additional material about these ages in another book, The Unfinished Tales (which was also released by his son).

  One should know that this book is not written as a typical novel. It does not have a regular plot or many dialogues (it does have some, but not many). It simply explains the lore in a concise manner. In the beginning, with the Ancient Days, it simply explains the lore in a more concise way, and from a certain point onwards, when the First Age begins, it introduces more plot. It has many different chapters, which Tolkien's son (who published the book) arranged chronologically to create a sense of continuity and a cohesive story. Essentially, these chapters are notes that Tolkien had in his drawer and was working on, but they were not yet complete. Nevertheless, they are very well-written for notes and are enjoyable and easy to read. I mention this so that one knows what to expect from this book and what they will be reading.

  Truly, the world that Tolkien has created is very beautiful and worth getting to know.
