Few books have influenced the teaching of their subject as much as "Linear Algebra" by Professor Gilbert Strang of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Wisely balanced between theory and applications, G. Strang's book manages to present Linear Algebra in the simplest and most direct way. Starting from "ground zero," it gradually builds the foundation of basic ideas and methods: linear equations, determinants, eigenvalues, eigenvectors, Jordan normal form, etc. At the same time, all the basic applications of Linear Algebra are fully analyzed: network and circuit theory, least squares method, fast Fourier transform, differential equations, simplex method, etc. For Greek students of the Physical and Mathematical Sciences and Polytechnic Schools, G. Strang's book is the best resource they could have in a subject that can only be compared in importance to Differential Calculus.
