Wonderful beach umbrella, sturdy construction, perfect size and absolute sun protection. For so many years we have used many, this one is something else.
5 stars from me and 5 from my wife make 10. This is our rating.
very good umbrella... it creates a large shade due to its 2.2 opening... sturdy... with the expensive handle it doesn't go anywhere even when it's windy... however, it would be good for 100% certainty to tie it with pegs for greater safety...
Top umbrella! Don't think about it twice. Its shade has nothing to do with the ordinary ones. You can feel a noticeable difference. The first time I didn't get burned at the beach. I don't know about the pole, I replaced it with a sturdy one that I bought separately, to withstand the wind. It's amazing, with a little breeze you feel cool while the place outside is scorching. Just be careful, when it's windy, don't put it on full extension. It might flip and I don't know if it will withstand the stress. High-quality materials. I recommend it!
(Review after one year (summer) of use)
Positives:
Provides good shade, definitely for 2 people, even when the sun is directly overhead.
The fabric absorbs (reflects? Can someone explain this to us?) a large percentage of the radiation.
The frame, pole, and ribs are sturdy.
Negatives:
*The user needs to purchase an additional and necessary support base, as it cannot withstand wind.
During the first use :(, it was caught by the wind, landed on some rocks, and the threads were cut at one point, where the fabric connects to the ribs.
For €40, which is what I bought it for, it is a good choice.
Generally, it requires attention with the wind no matter what umbrella you use. This one is fine for its size and price, however, I always tied it very well (in three points with ropes and with a pole that costs as much, not its own which is a bit useless). One time I didn't tie it well and it flipped upside down, I thought it was completely broken and I was left without an umbrella halfway through my vacation, but in the end, only a wire had broken and all the plastic locks were intact, so I managed to fix it. However, it definitely doesn't mean that you will forget that there is wind and that it won't fly away and hit someone, it requires attention!
What can you say when you have this umbrella set up, combined with a sturdy pole, and a tourist comes to tell you that you have the best beach umbrella? It doesn't move at all with the wind. I recommend it
I think it is the must-have umbrella from every perspective. Impeccable stability, especially in combination with the shock-resistant pole, it really doesn't budge even in a hurricane. In a really strong wind, it turned upwards (since it couldn't come out of the sand) without suffering any damage. We calmly turned it back to its position and since then it continues to work exceptionally well as before. As for the size, it is very good, it is enough for us as a couple with one child and we even have some extra space. But the most important thing is the quality of the shade. Initially, under the umbrella, you really feel refreshed even in scorching heat. And secondly, you are protected from radiation, even more important for children. For me, it is not just a product that I recommend, it is a product that everyone should have, firstly for our safety and secondly for our comfort. The only thing I could notice as a negative is that its case is not the most comfortable to carry for long distances. The strap is thin and it cuts into you, but again it could have not had a case like others, so I won't complain about that. Highly recommended.
The only umbrella that truly provides shade and coolness from underneath. The only downside is the pressure lever to fasten and stabilize it, as it is made of plastic and requires caution. It is excellent and large enough to use with a sunbed underneath.
Good product. Especially if you find it for under €40. Also very lightweight and quite large. Personally, I hate heavy umbrellas that everyone puts up and bangs on the beach. I prefer 3 simple plastic beach mats and it never flies away.
I have three M&S but this review is for the 2.2m, which seemed to have a not so sturdy construction but so far it had held up relatively well (1-2 seams had loosened and one had torn but OK, expected after 3 years of use). Unfortunately, today, in a relatively gentle gust of wind, it broke!! in two at the point of inclination, resulting in a minor injury to me. It has moderate durability with a relatively reasonable cost, definitely needs to be secured with any wind.
I had the small one and recently ordered the larger one with a diameter of 2.20. I am very satisfied, it withstands the wind and provides a good shade. It seems to be very well constructed, just like the smaller one I have, and they both hold up well
Indeed, the mechanism has an issue and it is possible that after use in the air it may break or loosen. I have a hammer handle, so I have cut the handle of the packaging and use it as reinforcement when there is a lot of air. Alternatively, if you don't want to cut it, you can buy a hammer with a diameter that fits the handle of the packaging.
The use of it was done for many days and in conditions of strong wind. With the proper tilt, I had no problem. If you also get pegs, then you definitely won't have the slightest problem. We sat for many hours from 13:00 until evening and its shade was perfect. It cuts the sun very well. Whoever is considering it should buy it
Sturdy umbrella of high quality construction. Good materials that I believe will withstand the test of time. Lightweight and, combined with the carrying case, make it ideal for carrying. The shade it provides is excellent. It is collapsible, so it can be used even in strong sunlight. The anchoring pole is not the most stable, but there are accessories that stabilize it well. Of course, with the 2.20m size I have, I did not encounter any particular problem in strong wind, but considering that it is a large umbrella in diameter, it definitely takes a hit in terms of stability.
It can withstand up to 4 Beaufort, but with a slightly stronger wind, the handle broke at the point where the mechanism for tilting is located. The handle remained on the ground and the wind took the umbrella, fortunately it was held by the rope that was tied to it and we avoided the worst. It hurts in that spot
With a moderate gust of wind, the umbrella broke in the top part where the tilt mechanism is located. Unacceptable.... The umbrella was flying with half of the pole and I was afraid it might hit someone... Obviously, this point is the weak spot of the umbrella and it shouldn't even exist as it is mainly useless, making it very dangerous and fragile. Stay away!
Well, the first impression is very positive BUT it got stuck inside the pole which had the correct diameter (Golden Fleece Beach Umbrella Crankshaft with Metal Diameter 32mm Blue 113cm). It could also be the pole's fault, of course.
I don't know if there are different qualities, but I bought two large ones from Sklavenitis and the cloth is unacceptable. Cigarette paper that scratches and small holes with the slightest touch.
And indeed, if you see it or hold it in your hand, you understand that it is very thin.
The umbrella looks very good - it hasn't been tested in the wind though. It has some seams here and there that you look at with reservation, but so far everything is okay. It also has slots to put ropes if you want. But the pole (the one that goes into the sand) is a joke - the poles of supermarket umbrellas have more weight! So I would also recommend - like most people - to directly get a sturdy one (the one usually recommended by the application itself is excellent).
The review is about the XL in petrol color.
One of the best and highest quality beach umbrellas on the market.
The XL size (2.20m) provides fantastic shade for 2 people.
To use it even in windy conditions, throw away the base pole and get a 30mm hammer to securely anchor it to the ground. It's also good to get carabiner rings, rope, and pegs so you can relax under its shade while others chase their umbrellas on the beach!
PS: To make it last and avoid damage, use it with common sense (don't retract or tie it with pegs when it's windy) and it will reward you.
Initially, we had purchased the 1.90 size. We were so satisfied that we also bought the larger one. Unfortunately, though, it doesn't have the same quality of construction. By reading the comments, one can understand that many come with the same weakness, and others are meant to be taken to Mordor without anything happening to them.
As shown in the photos, the wire that holds the ribs broke. Also, one of the ribs broke. All of this happened with a simple gust of wind, while there were other umbrellas nearby, the same and different ones, which didn't suffer anything.
WARNING!! If a rib breaks, because it is fiberglass which is essentially glass, resulting in leaving many small pieces like thorns but "invisible," do not make the mistake of touching it because your hands will be filled and you won't know where the pain is coming from. Dispose of it directly in the trash as even the fabric gets filled. It is also dangerous to breathe it in if you are in a closed space and start handling it.
It seems to be a good and high-quality construction. It provides satisfactory shade and has a tilting mechanism. I consider the hammer stake to be essential, the stake that came with it didn't impress me, although I have seen worse. Also, in strong wind, due to its size, it needs to be tied in 1-2 points (it has rings on the frame) with a rope.
First of all, this is one of the value for money beach umbrellas for those who seek quality construction, at a good price and with the prospect of durability.
Firstly, it comes in a nice quality case, which is very convenient for transportation. I note here (average in weight).
It is easily placed, offering a very nice and satisfactory shade for two people even when the sun can burn everything around. The UV protection mentioned in the description offers exactly that and nothing less.
As for its resistance to wind, it is necessary to secure it with ropes with plastic or metal pegs at an additional cost of no more than 5 euros. Without them, it can withstand up to 2-3 gusts of wind, but a stronger gust of wind can turn it upside down and destroy it. So, it is preferable to spend a few extra minutes rather than having a useless umbrella. Moreover, it has a special slot for ropes that makes the process extremely easy. With the ropes, be sure that even on an island with 6-7 gusts of wind, your umbrella will not suffer any damage.
As for its base, we did not use its own because it is a simple aluminum base, vulnerable to light wind. So, as you can see in the photos, we bought a different sturdy aluminum base that simply doesn't budge.
In conclusion, it is slightly more expensive than common beach umbrellas, but firstly, you will enjoy it and secondly, you will have peace of mind knowing that you will not need to buy a second and third umbrella within one summer.
Last year I went to Lemnos and because I didn't know what was going on with organized beaches, I went and bought 2 maui... Well, with strong winds over 5-6 Beaufort, one of them folded up to such an extent that it was impossible to bring it back to its original position, so on its virgin use, it gave up... 38€ wasted... I barely managed to catch the second one before it suffered the same fate... That's why I gave it 4 stars... So, at most, up to 5 Beaufort and maybe tie it with a small peg... Its shade is excellent, I can say that overall it is of good quality... I think it's worth its money, we just often overestimate their capabilities...
I don't know if there is a better umbrella on the market, but until I see a better one with my own eyes, I will buy this one and recommend it to all my friends. The day before yesterday, I sat for two hours under a common cheap umbrella and got burned even though I was wearing sunscreen. I wonder why people still buy the old type. So, this umbrella is lightweight, doesn't rust, and provides excellent shade. Whoever buys the large one, which is over 2 meters, should know that it is difficult to retract if it's windy. Due to its size. However, if you have two ropes with you, you can come up with solutions. I always tie it to my chair in case there is a sudden gust of wind. Also, don't be stingy, get a good screw. Get this one below and not the others that cost half the price. Hupa Umbrella Base Screw Plastic for Sand with Diameter 25-32m
After 2 uses with very moderate wind, the wire that holds the ribs at the top of the umbrella broke. The case has already torn in 1 month. Very mediocre for its reputation.
