One of the most significant events in our relatively recent history was undoubtedly the Turkish invasion of Cyprus on July 20, 1974, and the subsequent occupation and continuous looting of 37% of the Republic of Cyprus.
In the summer of 1974, a section of the Greek army, the Hellenic Force of Cyprus (ELDYK), which had been sent to Cyprus on August 16, 1960, based on the Zurich-London agreements, found itself literally in the eye of the storm of events that swept everything in its path.
Alone and completely unsupported, it faced the best that the Turkish armed forces had at the time and fought epic battles without faltering. This book is a testimony to the self-sacrifice of the officers and soldiers of ELDYK who, with their blood and sweat, watered the Cypriot land.
