The History of the Capital became known in Russian literature in the second half of the 15th century, but until today neither the author nor the conditions of its writing were known and, therefore, it was impossible to make a real assessment of this narrative as historical material.

The late Ismail Ivanovich Shreznevsky compiled for the first time an overview of this History and compared it with foreign authors who refer to the same event, providing excerpts from the text with historical and philological references.
