I personally have two major negatives and one minor one, with the positives following in conclusion.

    1. The Android application has many issues. It has excellent aesthetics and a good UI, which is why I am frustrated with the next part. Functionally, it is not as smooth/polished as it should be for an app that I frequently use daily to turn on/off/adjust room lighting. I have uninstalled/reinstalled it several times to see if there are other factors causing the issues, but after many days of general troubleshooting, I concluded that it is indeed problems with the application itself. The most common and almost permanent issue is that it does not register with my first command. That is, to turn it on, I have to press "ON" twice. To turn it off, I spam "OFF". To change colors, it often gets stuck on the first one you select and you have to select 2-3 other colors first, and once it finally unsticks and accepts a change, you can then select the color you want. Less frequently, but still daily, the app simply freezes and you have to close it and reopen it. Okay, unacceptable. With Bluetooth + location enabled, many of these issues are eliminated, but I still don't give them a pass, nor will I keep them permanently enabled.

    2. There is no connection and synchronization with other applications. For example, Google Home is supposed to be officially supported. Practically, it will work a few times/days after the initial "pairing". Then it starts going downhill until it stops fully controlling it, it just won't work from any Google mobile application I tried, the lamp stops responding.

    3. There is no PC application and it does not support connection with Razer Connect (or other similar applications). I don't deduct a star for this because I knew it or should have known it before purchasing, but I definitely have a big disappointment with this issue. WiZ is a subsidiary of Philips, which offers all the above with its hue. Okay, hue is launched as a high-end product (which is why I would never buy it), but no matter how locked the ecosystem is, it has a Razer Connect. Yeelight, Govee, Cololight, Lifx, and others have a connection with Razer Connect, but Philips, which has the knowledge for Connect and PC app, refuses to include them in WiZ.

To conclude, if I combine all of the above, I come to the conclusion that Philips doesn't care much about WiZ. Until there are new developments, I consider it a dying brand. I generally wouldn't buy WiZ again if I had the choice because I don't want to be locked into a company's products that is dying. On the other hand, at the moment there aren't many better options and it is a quality product, it performs flawlessly and has excellent appearance (for my taste, as I wanted strong light in a G95 shape). I also assume that it works perfectly with a remote control, which I haven't tested. If you belong to a different audience and don't want applications or to enter the hue/assistant ecosystem, it might be a good choice for you. As a general recommendation, I would say no, clearly due to the lack and software issues. If this ever changes (and what you read no longer applies) or if you simply don't care, act accordingly.

EDIT: I learned a few days ago that it can be controlled from the OpenRGB program on PC, unfortunately only the RGB part and not the white. From there, the response is immediate, no multiple presses are needed, and it has no response time. The lamp receives the signal just fine. So, two conclusions from this:

    1. For the responsiveness issues, it is undoubtedly the fault of the software (app) and not something else. They simply do not improve it.

    2. The open-source community has done a complete reverse engineering and can now control the WiZ lights through a PC. However, Philips, which has the source code and a ready UI from the hue lights (so it would have been very easy for them to do something like this), does not lift a finger.

    Update 22/02/2023:
The WiZ V2 app (android) has been out for a few months now, and I am very satisfied with it. Finally, there is immediate response, and it does not have the issues of the first one that I mentioned above. It turns out it was indeed a software issue, and they have fixed it, better late than never. I have not tested it with Google Home, nor do I plan to in the near future, but I assume they have also fixed it with the V2. I will upgrade from 3 stars to 4 stars solely because of the new app. It easily deserves 5 stars though, I am being strict because they have troubled me for 2+ years. I will give it 5 stars if I test it with Google Home and see a PC app or at least Razer Connect. I can definitely recommend it now. Finally, this quality bulb is accompanied by a bug-free software... Also, I want to mention that it has lasted all these years. So, please take into consideration the new information when reading the other negative reviews you will see

I bought 2 identical bulbs to put them in the living room and operate them as a synchronized "group". I also bought the Wiz Mote remote control to operate them without using my phone. The positives: Good lighting intensity and colors, good build quality, power consumption measurement. Negatives: They are expensive compared to the competition for what they offer, they do not synchronize correctly sometimes, they are not recognized by smart systems based on the Tuya protocol (e.g. SmartLife application). The mobile application has a nice user interface and is relatively easy to use, but I would like more settings for custom colors. In my opinion, at this price, it is not the best choice unless someone has many other Wiz products and wants to stay in the same ecosystem.

  • In a lighting fixture with 5 bulbs, it is very difficult to connect them, especially all together. After some effort, I managed to connect them one by one, but after 2 days, 4 of them disconnected and now I am struggling to reconnect them. Some colors flicker and cannot be displayed consistently.

    Verified purchase

I bought it as a test for the living room and I loved it! It has infinite colors and combinations, and mainly since you don't need to get up from your seat to turn on or off the light, I will get it for all the rooms!
