And yet there are myths. Thousands of generations ago, they say, some of these lights came really close - but they always exploded terribly, and their flashes, much brighter than the sun, covered the sky. Then strange, hard metals rained down on the land. Some of these are still worshipped to this day. None, however, is as sacred as the enormous black Monolith, which stands on the line that separates light from darkness, with one side eternally facing the motionless sun and the other towards the region of night. Until the fullness of time comes, the Monolith would not allow any contact. But when the moment arrives, it may decide to release the beings that sleep within it.
