Description

It has been almost 100 years since the Greeks from Asia Minor and Pontus were forced to return to their homeland. In the chronological momentum of this sad anniversary, the release of the completely new title "From Pontus to Greece - Everything a Little Girl Saw, Heard, and Experienced" is placed. The book presents the handwritten record of the bitter persecution of a little girl at that time, only nine years old, who was born in Amisos (Samsunda) in Pontus.

The details of life in her homeland and after the hardships of exile in the interior of Turkey, as well as her adventures in Constantinople and Greece, unfold in a captivating narrative, with scenes at high speed and cinematic submission. As noted in the foreword by Sofia K. Moraiti for the publication: The alternation of images is like the sea, calmness is followed by a storm. Faithful to her principles, the narrator follows her destiny. However, pessimism or resignation does not appear or express itself. She is always ready to face and overcome the many difficulties.

The book concludes with the unique epilogue by Spyridon G. Ploumidis, who connects the past with the present, as he emphatically emphasizes that these personal testimonies of memory put the reader in the atmosphere of the time and transform them from a passive knower and collector of information into an active eyewitness of the shocking pre-events, mentally transporting them from Pontus to Greece. Impressive photographic material from the period is presented in special inserts (manuscripts, etc.).
