The Xiaomi Watch S1 Active is aimed at those who are looking for an affordable yet fully functional smartwatch.
It is a sports watch with multiple features such as heart rate monitoring, step counting, distance measurement, and calorie consumption tracking.
Additionally, the Xiaomi Watch S1 Active offers multiple customizable workout programs, such as running, hiking, tennis, cycling, and swimming, as well as sleep tracking and other functions that make it ideal for use during sports activities.
It also provides connectivity with your smartphone for notifications, calls, and music control, and has a long-lasting battery life of up to 12 days, depending on usage.
Screen
The 1.43" AMOLED display is bright and offers a smooth experience. The Always-on feature keeps the time always visible. Important notifications, such as calls and reminders, are visible even under bright light.
117 Fitness Modes
Supports 19 professional fitness modes, such as basketball, tennis, swimming, and HIIT, as well as 100 other sports for accurate monitoring and analysis of your heart rate, pace, and calorie burning data.
Built-in GPS
The dual band GNSS chip supports the 5 major satellite positioning systems (GPS, BeiDou, GLONASS, Galileo, and QZSS) and, combined with the improved algorithm, offers more accurate positioning and professional statistics.
Battery
The large 470mAh battery, combined with the low-power AI algorithm, offers up to 12 days of typical use and 24 days in battery saver mode. When GPS is active, the battery lasts up to 30 hours. The cable fully charges the Watch S1 Active in 2.5 hours.
Bluetooth Calling
Thanks to the built-in microphone and speaker, calls are possible through the watch. When you are running outside or it is not easy to take out your phone, you can accept calls with a tap on the screen.
Emergency Call
By pressing the side button in the lower right corner three times in a row, you can automatically call an emergency contact. For it to work, the watch must be connected to your phone's Bluetooth, and the emergency contact is set from the corresponding app's menu.
Health
Even when you exercise intensely, the heart rate sensor records your pulse and notifies you if it is high. Also, the Watch S1 Active monitors blood oxygen levels every 30 minutes. Other important functions that help your health include stress monitoring and women's cycle tracking.
NFC
Pay contactless at any payment machine that supports Mastercard, simply by tapping the watch. (Supported only for Alpha Bank and National Bank of Greece Mastercard cards in Greece).
Alexa Voice Assistant
Check the weather, set an alarm, remotely control your smart home devices, and much more.
All by simply asking Alexa.
*Alexa's capabilities and functionality are supported via OTA and require upgrading the watch's firmware to the latest version.

More or less, the positives and negatives have been analyzed. Personally, I found the NFC function and phone calls incredibly convenient. As you can see in the photos, I added a bulkier protective case for a more durable appearance, and I also use a hydrogel screen protector that fits very well.
My observations are that sometimes it opens on its own and the connection with my phone (OnePlus 8 Pro) is very strong, resulting in having to manually connect other Bluetooth devices or sources like headphones, car, etc.
Nevertheless, for its price, it is amazing. I can use it in the sea and shower without any issues such as screen fading or white marks around the edges like Huawei's
It is a reliable watch with a good price and a great advantage of NFC for making payments with Mastercard and Visa cards. The screen clarity is relatively good and it is reliable in measurements. HOWEVER, the mobile notifications do not always come to the watch, which I find unacceptable. No matter how much I tried and gave all the permissions from the mobile to the watch, it does not always receive notifications like the Huawei GT 2 that I have, which never misses a notification. It is possible for you to receive a message on your mobile and the watch not to notify you, or on Viber, email, etc. That's why I give it two stars. Also, I wanted a better battery. It lasts 2-3 days while the Huawei lasts 1.5 weeks.

Very good, maybe just a little heavy in the hand, but you get used to it. Also, sometimes notifications do not appear on the watch, and in some calls it does not display the contact's name but only the number. Otherwise, excellent.
It is quite good with all the goodies it has inside that serve the daily needs quite well, autonomy of about 15 days, quality construction, easy connection to the mobile phone for calls or activities such as walking, running, multimedia notifications, applications. It's worth its money
I had the Xiaomi Redmi Watch 3 Active. Really value for money.
I got the S1 Active for the NFC plus everything else it has or I would expect it to have.
In terms of construction, appearance, screen, calls, and sound, both for me and the person calling me, it's great. As for cycling, I haven't tried it yet, but I'm not going to run around France, so I imagine that whatever it has, it will also be good.
What left me wondering and what surprised me negatively...
The Xiaomi Redmi Watch 3 Active has the ability to store 10 phone numbers to call. It has the ability to call any other phone number from the screen by forming the number, like on a smartphone. It has the ability to open messages, emails, and notifications from the watch on the phone.
This, the Xiaomi Watch S1 Active, doesn't have them!! Considering its price and category, I find it unbelievable that it doesn't have these options. I believe it's a software issue, not hardware... Is it possible that Xiaomi itself downgrades it so much? For me, these are its downsides. Unbelievable policy towards a very good and quality product.
A very good idea they have implemented is that if you take it off your hand, it locks. It requires a 6-digit code that you have created... If you form it and wear it, it unlocks and doesn't lock again. If you haven't worn it, it will lock again after you do whatever you want. I believe this happens when you activate NFC (Alpha and Ethniki) because there (during activation) it asks you to create a code.
Also... Double tap only works on always-on display. There are some watch faces that, if you select them, have a different image on the always-on display... Beautiful. Be careful, not all of them. Some, if you select them from the mobile before installing them, have an icon at the bottom right. A square with a line in the middle. You press it and it shows what always-on display each watch face has.
That's it... I hope I helped.
A very good watch that fits well on the wrist (especially for those with large wrists). In my opinion, it is worth around 80 to 90 euros if you can find it.
Everything is fine, just if I hadn't bought it, I would have paid 50€ more to get the Samsung. Okay, the Samsung doesn't hold the battery for more than 2 days, but I didn't have a problem charging it every night, whereas the Xiaomi charges very quickly, around 1 hour, and lasts for 1 week. But it doesn't automatically detect exercise (walking, running) and the Samsung fitness app is incomparable to Xiaomi's.
For the money, it's quite good. For amateur sports, like walking or running, it has decent measurements. The payments are okay too, but only with Alpha Bank, National Bank, and maybe Curve.
Very good, very good screen and good synchronization with Xiaomi F5 Pro mobile. Battery life is 4 to 5 days compared to the previous Huawei GT2 smartwatch, which lasted over a week, but I believe it has more functions, better synchronization, and a better screen. Some people mention the accuracy of the measurements, but for me, who also have another smartwatch, it is great in terms of measurements.
One possible advice is that at the beginning it may not be comfortable on your hand, but believe me, if you wear it continuously for a week, then you will forget its presence on your hand.
Very good watch, you don't need anything more, satisfactory battery life of about a week, instant message notifications, answer calls from your mobile when needed.
In general, it is a very nice watch and it has several features, with the convenient fact that you can make calls from it if your phone is not nearby. Its battery does not last more than 3-4 days with Bluetooth and messages on, and even less if I do any kind of exercise or walk outside.
What is strange is that it often freezes and sends continuous messages that I have already received, and I have to restart my phone to make it stop. Maybe it's because of the iPhone, because my husband has the same watch connected to an Android and he never experiences this.
Overall, I am satisfied, although I believe that the Garmin I had before was better, even though it had fewer technical features as an older and more expensive model.
The battery needs to be charged every 3 to 4 days. I don't know what the problem is, if there's something that needs to be done or if there's something that needs to be disabled because it's consuming battery. I don't think I did anything different from what I had on my previous watch
Alexa does not work in Greece. It is beautiful and comfortable, and the measurements show fine. You cannot add applications except for those in the mi fit, which are only three in total.
Hello, today I received the watch and I have an issue with the steps I take throughout the day. There is a difference between the watch and the app after synchronization. The app shows more steps and I can't understand why this is happening. If someone can help me, I would greatly appreciate it.
I am coming back because I just realized that the app records my steps separately from the watch and it actually records a lot more. When I don't have my phone with me and I walk normally, the watch records my steps and as soon as I approach the phone, synchronization occurs. However, please note that if the app already shows more steps, it doesn't add anything, only if I have fewer steps it will add them. Anyway, the whole issue is that when I am moving and I have my phone with me, the app records the steps separately and records a lot more compared to the watch. If the watch records 10 steps, I calculated that the app records 15 to 16.
Does anyone know if there is a setting to fix this and only record steps from the watch?
It does not connect to the zepp life application or the amazfit scale. Most of the time, it records different steps on the watch and different steps on the Mi Fitness application. It seems strange to me that the Mi Fitness and Zepp Life applications do not communicate with each other to synchronize automatically. During yoga training, it notifies me to accelerate when I shouldn't. The watch looks nice, and the heart rate and step measurements seem good, but I cannot have an opinion on the rest. Overall, I do not expect perfect results, and I try to see it as a tool that gives me indicative measurements to roughly monitor my workouts, calories burned, sleep quality, and everything else. I expected to be more impressed coming from my experience with the Mi Band 5. I also expected the Mi Fitness application environment to be better. Overall, I am moderately satisfied
I have it for almost a month. I expected something more in terms of accuracy in measurements. I use it on the treadmill and in the swimming pool. I will check it even better and I will come back.
After 2 weeks of use, the screen turned black and after a month of waiting for them to check it, they returned my money and I bought from another company.
First contact today.
I report my problem so that no one else falls for it and we will see for a review when I have tried it enough:
There is no application in which both the S1 Active and the best-selling Xiaomi scale, the "Mi Body Composition Scale 2", can be connected at the same time!
I fell for it because I chose the watch expecting it to pull data from the smart scale of the same brand but .... different app for the watch and different app for the scale, .... they don't communicate with each other!
Also, the MI Fitness app for the watch does not allow connection to Google Fit.... pffff
Another time when Xiaomi's software "hangs" its hardware...
I bought today (Ocean Blue) and I have to say that it is a very beautiful watch with a very good screen clarity. The application, pairing, and programming with the phone (poco f5) are quite simple. The process of card payment with NFC is easy... for the remaining functions, I reserve judgment for a supplementary evaluation coming soon!
And I come back with additional information...
- Battery: Easily lasts 7 days with everything on (charged on Sunday and again on the following Sunday with battery level at around 30 to 35%)
- Measurements regarding health and fitness are relatively accurate.
- GPS works perfectly fine.
- NFC functions perfectly with full payment updates in the application.
- Calls, messages, and mobile voice (especially in closed spaces) from the watch are impressively good.
For the 97 euros of purchase, we are talking about a smartwatch that offers everything.
And those who are not satisfied can go and spend 500 and 1000 euros to show off.
The watch is the worst thing you can buy, I bought it for 150 euros supposedly with a big discount and I still cry for the money.
From the first week, the button of the main function broke, the measurements are bad, it takes half an hour to show your pulse and when it does, it is not accurate, the battery runs out faster than gasoline, generally the worst thing
I consider 3 stars to be a very fair evaluation.
Coming from the Huawei GT2 that I used for 2 years, I have the following comments:
- Tremendous screen compared to Huawei, fits much better on the wrist and is less bulky.
- I do standing work with small steps, it doesn't count them at all, very annoying to be exhausted from standing + small steps and the total count to be only 500 for the 9 hours I am at work.
- Battery, like the GT2, lasts about 2 weeks if everything is closed, and about 4 days with many calls/messages and always on display.
- NFC only with alpha bank which I don't have, so it's completely useless to me.
- Last but not least, something I really liked about the GT2 was the very accurate sleep tracking, I used it constantly and it detected all sleeps, short and night ones. Xiaomi is tragic in this area, it counts whatever, it might consider me sitting on the couch watching TV as sleep, Huawei true sleep is much superior.
In conclusion, for the 110€ I paid, I am not very satisfied, I use it but without enthusiasm. For the 85-90€ it costs now, it might be worth it, but overall it was two to three clicks below my expectations.
edit: 13/04/23
The step count is now ridiculous, I walk 5+ km pushing a baby stroller and it doesn't count those steps.
Also, in incoming calls that I answer from the phone, the first 2" they can't hear me because somehow, in a way I can't disable, the watch takes priority, overall it's a mess.
I lower my rating to 2/5, solely for the clear screen and its battery, but it's not worth even half a star more, and I'm on the verge of wearing my 3-year-old Huawei GT2 again, with a cracked screen.
I bought it 10 days ago for 75 euros. I want to briefly mention some things.
+ It is a very beautiful watch, with GPS, NFC, calls via Bluetooth, heart rate and stress measurement, and sleep tracking.
It has a battery life of about 8 to 10 days with a screen that opens and closes.
Its screen has good clarity and supports animations.
The sleep tracking measurements seem accurate. The rest have not been tested yet, and I will come back to that.
- NFC only works with Mastercard and only with National and Alpha Bank cards.
I'm not sure if the screen durability will withstand scratches. At least it doesn't impress me. I recommend putting on a screen protector.
The speaker during calls is relatively weak and doesn't sound good, although it is perfect for notifications and alarms.
Overall, I am quite satisfied. I highly recommend it for prices below 100 euros.
I haven't had it for long, but I can say that it is a very nice smart watch with many functions!! It has good battery life and a perfect screen, maybe even the best screen on a smart watch. As for measurement accuracy, I can't say for sure, but I don't think it has a significant deviation. You can easily make calls (not from contacts, but from recent calls you have received or made) and answer from the watch. It has a good microphone and speaker. There are many watch faces available for every taste, and they are also free. Overall, it is a good smart watch for everyday use!
