The inspections and especially the re-inspections of Greek building electrical installations have been a topic of discussion since the 1960s. Until a few years ago, there was no clear line, no guide, on how they should be conducted. Since 2006, with the legal obligation of the ELOT HD 384 Standard, seminars have been organized, inspections and re-inspections have been carried out based on the Standard, and Greek experience has been created.

Since May 2011 and the Ministerial Decision on the new Responsible Installer Declaration (YDE), these issues have been clarified.

This book and the accompanying CD contain basic information, practical guidelines, and experiences related to the inspections and re-inspections of building electrical installations. The aim and purpose are to make all this a guide for those who want to systematically deal with inspections and re-inspections.

More specifically, it includes:
- The requirements of the current electrical legislation and the ELOT HD 384 Standard, with emphasis on Part 6.
- The structure and method of completing the documents of the new YDE, with emphasis on the inspection and re-inspection protocols.
- The presentation of the possibilities of completing the new YDE with a computer.
- The methodologies and structure of visual inspection with examples from practice.
- Testing and measurement techniques with examples and practical advice.
- Guidelines for re-inspections.
- The capabilities and utilization of modern instruments for testing and measurements.
- Proposals for a better approach and more effective information of consumers about the value and benefits of inspections and re-inspections.

Brief references are also made to the Regulation of Internal Electrical Installations (KEEE) where necessary. The scope of the inspections and re-inspections described coincides with the scope of the ELOT HD 384 Standard: For installations with operating voltages up to 1000V AC & 1500V DC.

The safety and security of every building electrical installation is only ensured and documented through systematic inspections and re-inspections.
