"Antigone" by Sophocles is undoubtedly one of the greatest works of ancient Greek dramaturgy, which continues to move readers and audiences today with the power of its ideas, the timeless messages it conveys, and the perfection with which the great tragic poet handles his art.

Teaching the work in school (2nd Grade of Lyceum) is therefore connected with the need for students to come into contact with this significant work that stands out for its supreme pedagogical and didactic value. We hope that this book will assist the student in the interesting and at the same time difficult effort to get to know and understand "Antigone," reaping the maximum possible benefits. For this reason, we deemed it necessary to include in the teaching units that constitute it, in general terms, the following:
- Translation of the ancient text, in accordance with the linguistic comments of the school book.
- Detailed lexical, grammatical, and syntactical comments for better decoding of the original language.
- Presentation of the structure of each unit and its summary rendering to identify the key points.
- Various factual and interpretative comments to deeply understand the ideas, perceptions, values, etc., that govern the text.
- Characterization of the characters.
- Technical elements where key elements of the tragedy (tragic ironies, foreshadowing, plot advancement, etc.) are highlighted and the rich expressive means that adorn the work's speech are identified.
- Answers to the questions in the school book.
- Evaluation criteria, the answers to which are provided at the end of the book.
