Description

When the entertainment industry gradually dominates everything, as it does now, when young people, students, children are pushed towards pleasure, drugs, fantasy, romantic sensuality, then the words restraint and simplicity are thrown away and no one ever thinks about them again. The simplicity of the monks and ascetics who renounce the world, who cover their bodies with some kind of robe or a piece of cloth, this renunciation of the material world is certainly not simplicity. You probably don't even hear this now, what simplicity entails. When you have been taught from childhood to have fun and escape from yourself through entertainment - religious or otherwise - and when most psychologists tell you that you should express whatever you feel, because any form of restraint or stopping is harmful and leads to various types of neuroses, then it is natural to turn more and more to the world of sports, entertainment, recreation or drugs, which help you escape from yourself, from what you are. Understanding the nature of what you are - without any distortion, without any prejudice, without any reaction to what you discover you are - is the beginning of simplicity.
