This book is unusual: original, insightful, overflowing with the author's desire to contribute to the prevention of the decline of modern Greece, although he considers it almost definitive. However, the author does not focus so much on the much-discussed economic decline, but rather on the subsequent reduction of the country's international allure, its prestige, influence, and its ability to defend its interests, either geographically or economically. He firmly believes that there are many responsible for this situation, and not just politicians.
However, his purpose is not to identify the culprits, but rather to propose solutions in the field of foreign policy and to highlight the need for the revitalization of the neglected Greek Armed Forces and their seriously underpaid personnel. Like in all his other books - forty-four in total - the author's main goal is not to make readers embrace his ideas, but to urge them to reflect on the underlying causes of the problems. In this context, few would probably disagree with the fact that he manages to inform and, possibly, elevate morale despite his pessimism about the events.
