Georgios Karter was one of the selected technocrats and scientists recruited by the governments of G. Papadopoulos in an effort to entrust the reconstruction of the country to distinguished representatives of the progressive spirit of the war generation of 1940-1949 that had been marginalized by the post-war establishment.

Until now, everyone knew about the politicization that G. Papadopoulos underwent, following the constitutional change on June 1, 1973, when he entrusted Spyros Markezinis with the formation of a government to hold elections.

Karter's testimony reveals another, unknown politicization that preceded Markezinis' solution. It concerns the attempt at politicization in 1972 that Papadopoulos attempted, encouraging the creation of a new political movement, with the aim of renovating political life, promoting new forces, and the emergence of new parties. It recounts how the movement was organized, who reacted, and how the effort eventually dwindled after the success of Markezinis' solution. But the revelations of the testimony do not stop there. They shed light on many other unknown aspects of the subsequent developments that took place during Markezinis' short-lived government until its overthrow by Ioannidis' intervention.
