Description

Many incidents have happened in our lives, but few have remained in our memory. We have met many people, but we remember only a few.

Some experiences remain indelible and imperishable over time, while others have been completely erased.

Some people may have died, but they remain within us as if we were with them yesterday, and others, whom we actually met yesterday, we have already forgotten.

Our emotional memory selects and keeps some events we experienced fresh from when we were still children. But why? What is the selection criterion?

Have only the useful ones been preserved? Is this perhaps the purpose of the school called life on earth?

Should we perhaps better investigate the events and people that our memory has chosen to remember and see what we have to learn?

Could these events and encounters be our great Teachers and our unique personal lessons, no matter how joyful or difficult they were?

These questions preoccupied me for many years, and to clarify them, I wrote a book with the stories and encounters that my memory chose to retain, from the time I remember myself until today.

Mikis Theodorakis, Manos Hadjidakis, Melina Mercouri, Dimitris Horn, but also... his mother, his grandmother, and his cousin make their appearance, among others, in the 38 small, lucky but not at all random, stories of Thanasis Efthymiadis. Narratives intensely moving, full of kindness and humanity.

    An easy-to-read book, with nice messages, which were not unfamiliar to me and maybe didn't excite me so much, although this does not diminish the author and the messages he wants to convey. I have bought both of his books, but "Small Stories, Big Lessons" didn't impress me that much. However, it certainly doesn't mean that I don't find the deeper message valuable in both books, which focuses on our emotions and self-love. Something that I feel is missing from many people's lives, because it raises the issue of individual responsibility and active attitude, rather than living on "autopilot". Definitely, timing is needed for someone to feel the need for introspection and redefine the meaning of their life, where they will feel happy through their own desires and not from the artificial ones that society promotes (a large percentage of it).
