In this book, which was first published in 1997, we follow the processes of the formation of the working class in Greece from the last period of Ottoman rule until the interwar period, as well as the processes of formation and development of the Greek labor movement.
The author, through this work, seeks to investigate the conditions of conducting class-social confrontation, arguing that it was this - and not some "objective laws" of economic development - that determined the appearance and shaping of the working class and overall the historical evolution of Greek social, political and ideological reality.
