Hiking: Everything you need
Find the list of essentials for summer hiking equipment!
The mountain experience contributes to mental and physical health. Mountaineering is the most challenging form of hiking. The usual goal of mountaineering is the conquest of a mountain peak.
It is a favorite sport and is particularly popular in the summer. For some, it is a form of entertainment, and for others, a way of life.
Before you head to the mountain, you need to answer some basic questions:
What is the duration of the excursion?
What is the elevation gain of the ascent?
What is the maximum altitude of your route?
What is the weather forecast for the mountain you will visit?
Is there water along the route?
How many people will participate? (whether you are going individually or with a group)
How isolated is the area you are going to? (whether there are nearby settlements or good mobile phone signal)
The above questions will help you organize better and equip yourself with the necessary gear.
The summer mountaineering gear includes:
Hiking Backpack
The backpack is an important part of your gear. Its weight should rest on the hips, meaning the backpack's belt should sit at the right spot. The weight should not burden the lower back and shoulders.
Lightweight & Flexible Boots
In the mountains, you shouldn't wear athletic shoes, but boots that have a durable sole, cover and support the ankles.
Woolen or Synthetic Socks
Wear synthetic or woolen socks and avoid cotton ones, which do not dry easily if they get wet. Make sure to have a spare pair with you.
Headlamp
Choose a durable rechargeable headlamp with spare batteries and a light, to provide you with illumination in hard-to-reach areas.
Cotton & Lightweight Pants
The pants should be comfortable, not restrict movement, and dry easily if they get wet.
Windbreaker
Be sure to always have a waterproof and windbreaker jacket with you. You should never forget it, not even in the summer.
Helmet
The mountaineering helmet protects the head from possible falls during hiking.
Trekking Poles
Trekking poles are a very useful part of the equipment. Clearly, you can walk without them, but they help not only with balance but also with movement, especially downhill. The most important thing is that they protect your knees.
