Description

After the dissolution of the USSR, the rejection of the prospect of an "American century" seemed doomed to failure, both as a scientific assessment and as a political proposition. Especially in the "West" today, the certainties of a monocentric world, a new empire, were strong. Greek politics fully aligned with the demands of Washington, after the brief decade of the '80s and the efforts to autonomize Greek foreign policy towards the US and NATO.

Thirty years later, nothing is the same. The war in Ukraine is the prelude to a prolonged war of attrition for global hegemony. As the tectonic plates of international relations shift and collide, and while Greece and Cyprus find themselves in a volatile zone, they continue to operate based on the post-Cold War doctrines of internalizing dependence. This book aims to contribute to the discussion on the necessary structural and strategic change of the international relations of the two states, with the goal of an international policy grounded in new realities.

Interesting book, both in terms of methodological approach and in terms of official formulations. The unorthodox political implications that arise from such an approach should be part of public discourse, especially regarding Greek-Turkish issues.
