Former owner of Amazfit GTR 3 Pro and T-Rex 2. I generally switch smartwatches frequently, from various companies as a hobby. I bought the GTR 4 due to its new GPS and sensors. I would give it 5 stars, but I expected better build quality mainly. You pay 200 euros for a smartwatch, and it doesn't even have any protection certification for the screen, such as Gorilla Glass 3, and the aluminum, although light, scratches very easily. On the positive side, the measurements have at most one unit deviation from a medical oximeter. The same goes for the GPS, one click above the watches I mentioned. Of course, in the 6-satellite mode, it consumes a lot of battery, averaging 7 days while the T-Rex 2 easily lasts 14 days. The screen is impeccable in colors and brightness. In addition, you can now connect a heart rate monitor belt via Bluetooth. The speaker is improved, louder but also clearer. I won't talk about sleep, because even a 500 euro Garmin loses in this area. With much less money, you can go for the Huawei GT 2 Pro with a titanium build and sapphire on the screen, or even the GT 3 with slightly better sensors. For those who buy it, definitely get a tempered glass for the screen!
The review is exclusively for the 2 main reasons I bought it, mentioning its positives as well.
I bought the Amazfit GTR4 from the official company store (at a significantly higher price than independent importers, mainly due to the official warranty) to replace a 4-5-year-old smartwatch from another major Chinese company, which no longer connects to GPS (it broke on the smartwatch, firmware issue, no longer compatible with the app that has been removed from the Google Play Store, although supported by Gallery/incompatibility with Android???).
The 2 main purposes are (a) when I swim (only now) in the sea ~2km at a time (35'-40'), day after day (weather permitting), 12 months a year and I want to periodically monitor the data (exact distance, pace, and especially heart rate) and (b) to quickly answer calls when I don't have my phone with me, while driving... The evaluation is therefore inevitable, both generally and specifically, in comparison to the previous one for the main purposes.
Pros:
1. Excellent XiaomiStore support! I sent an email with questions and received a response in 1 hour and 40 minutes.
2. Excellent GPS, much better than my previous one (2 satellites). Very accurate, with many settings, 6 satellites, etc.
3. Equally easy and comprehensive mobile application (Zepp), very good UI, plenty of features, settings, information... However, be careful: If there is a pending update, the application does not open/crashes until it is updated.
4. The usual battery life for all Chinese smartwatches (1 to 2 weeks depending).
5. Much lighter.
6. Reasonable price (200-250€).
Cons:
1. The strap is mediocre at best. In the summer, the wrist sweats more because it does not have holes along its entire length.
2. Very few/less faces and generally average for my taste. Fortunately, there is the AmazFaces app (Ukrainian and so we can support them through the ads that only appear when we download), with almost all faces available for free.
3. The heart rate monitoring intervals (BPM) are at least 1 minute, not continuous like my previous one. A big difference for someone who has a reason to monitor them continuously/real-time.
Now, for the 2 main requirements:
4. The heart rate sensor and/or algorithm are completely unacceptable for swimming! (on land, e.g. walking, it is very accurate). While I know that under normal swimming conditions, my heart rate is 100-120 depending on the weather conditions (measured at the carotid artery for 15"*4=1' but also from the previous smartwatch), the AmazFit shows an average of 167 with a max of 197 (see photo)!!! It's impossible, because my swimming pace is slow, and even if I could swim for that long with that heart rate, I would have either stopped reflexively or literally died (roughly, the maximum heart rate is 220-age, so for my case, 220-63=157)! Of course, I cleaned the sensor, tightened the strap as much as possible, but no difference. I did 3 tests with the same results.
5. When there is an incoming call (requires a special Bluetooth connection to the application), the caller's voice is not audible at all, and my voice is very faint to them. I went to the Mi Store and tested it with a connection to another Android phone (not Xiaomi), and it sounded fine. So it wasn't defective. They told me that there is a known issue with Oneplus (I have the 10pro and also the older 7T, with the same problem).
Of course, I sent all the data for the heart rate and calls to Xiaomi, through the application, to see if and when they do something. For now, I got it unfairly.
Conclusions:
1. Xiaomi, obviously to beat the competition, did not test the functions sufficiently, either in all the exercises they support or if it connects correctly with all mobile brands (OnePlus/Oppo is not, for example, Samsung, iPhone but also not, for example, Fairphone, Nothing, it has a significant market share).
2. If you have more "specialized" requirements like me, do not buy it. Get something cheaper, depending on what you value more (for example, a band with 40-50 €, they exist).
I bought it thinking it was waterproof and suitable for swimming. I intended to get the equivalent from Huawei, but everyone said the worst about its waterproofing. In the end, it was a disappointment. ONE YEAR LATER it left us... I sent it back under warranty and they returned it to me due to "misuse" because it took in water... the waterproof one... the suitable for swimming... A waste of 240 euros. If it was like this, it would be better for someone to buy one for 50... 60 euros every year instead of this. If I have to take off the watch every time I deal with water, it makes no sense to pay so much money and regret it after a year.
Nice watch, especially for those of us who are into sports, lightweight on the wrist, good construction, good battery with almost all apps working, it lasts me 6 days, I bought it for 181 euros
Unfortunately, at the altar of "evolution," Amazfit has collapsed in quality. Coming from the fantastic first GTR, which I had in stainless steel for 4 years and it didn't suffer the slightest damage without me taking much care of it, wearing the GTR4 I immediately realized that something was wrong.. It seemed very fake to me.. and this crown, although useful, looked very vulnerable. And unfortunately, that's what happened; after 1 month of use and after 5-6 swims in the sea, initially the crown stopped working, and eventually the touch screen stopped working too. Huge disappointment, I'm going back to my beloved GTR just to miss the answer to calls.
I have had it for 6 months and wear it daily and during sleep for sleep tracking in general. With measurements per minute for heart rate, oxygen, the battery easily lasts a week, comfortably, and if it didn't measure as frequently, it would last for 2 weeks.
The scroll wheel is a fantastic feature, it allows for much faster navigation through the menu. It has an automatic tracker, when it detects that you are exercising, it starts tracking on its own without needing you to adjust it every time.
Regarding the screen, because I saw some comments, I put on a screen protector on day 1 and there isn't a single scratch. The strap has not experienced any issues so far, and there is no sign that it will have any soon. Overall, it is the best thing someone can buy if they are looking for something superior to a band or a low-budget watch. I haven't tested it in swimming yet, but I don't think it will have any issues.
It often loses connection from the mobile. The measurements have a deviation from reality. However, it is very well built and the battery lasts almost 10-12 days.

If I could download maps on the watch, it would be the best thing ever!! Again, it is valuable and for me, who likes to wander in the mountains, it is an extra safety since it is also the only reason I bought it.
Significant upgrade from the company's previous model, the Stratos. Battery lasts about 10 days, accuracy and instant GPS lock. The heart rate monitor does not provide satisfactory accuracy except for high heart rate values (compared to Garmin's HRM strap measurement). The only thing I miss is the screen technology of the Stratos that allowed you to see the time under light without turning on the screen. Here, if you don't have always on display (very battery-consuming), you have to wake up the screen by pressing a button or making a hand gesture (which doesn't always work)
The previous smartwatch I had was Samsung and I had it for several years. The fact that a full charge lasts a minimum of 10 days was a shock to me, having been used to the (mandatory) daily charging of the previous one. It works very well with my Samsung phone. The Zepp app is great, fully covering my measurement recording needs. The screen is excellent. The watch functions adequately meet my needs. The apps I can add to the watch are few and limited (it is not Android). It connects to Samsung buds, but the sound is quite "poor". The watch measurements, so far, are accurate. It does not have NFC. The strap is quite comfortable, it has not caused any irritation - I wear it 23/24 hours. I really like its design. Conclusion: I fully agree with something that has already been mentioned: it reaches 96% of the capabilities of an Android smartwatch, with 10 days of battery life, at 1/3 of the price!

Beautiful appearance and slim design, fits perfectly on the wrist while being very lightweight. It can easily be worn in an office work environment without looking "fake" or completely "plastic" like other smartwatches.
The battery life is amazing, lasting about 10 days with continuous daily use and sports activities. I use it for individual fitness, treadmill, soccer, airsoft, hiking, and I am very satisfied with its measurements and GPS.
It has many functions for sports to provide the best possible measurement, and the Amazfit application on the mobile (iPhone) is very good and user-friendly, keeping a history of data even if you don't sync the watch for days.
I'm not an expert to judge the accuracy of calorie measurements, but they seem fine, always relative to the cost of the watch. The map and GPS are great though.
I have all notifications from the mobile (messenger, etc.), calls, and any function with music completely turned off, so I can't speak about their effectiveness.
As for negatives, I will only say that the sleep tracking is unfortunately very poor. The watch may consider that you woke up at 5 in the morning and didn't go back to sleep. It may make a completely accurate measurement 1-2 times out of 10, but the rest will be completely wrong. I definitely expected something better in this area, especially when watches that cost 50 euros can do it with very good accuracy.
I have it for a week.. even though the first week that I constantly play with it, the battery is at 40% in 5 days. It connects instantly with the Xiaomi Poco and has two connections, one as a watch and one as a headset which is activated only when receiving or making a call from the watch. You can speak comfortably and be heard clearly both from the watch and the headset. I don't have an opinion on the rest because I don't use it for exercising. I use it for calls and notifications. In messages, you can reply with pre-made ones that you create through the application. Due to comments about scratches, I got a case from the beginning because I bump it here and there due to manual work. The negative aspect is the strap that sticks to the wrist. It will be a problem in the summer. Maybe if it was made of fabric, it would help.
Accuracy in measurements. The speaker is very good. The screen is quite bright. Unfortunately, the screen is very fragile. It doesn't take much to scratch it. It needs a 100% screen protector. I bought it for 160 euros. I believe that around 120-130 euros, the price would have been more affordable. Overall, it's good for a low budget smartwatch

I have had it for 2 months and I am very satisfied.
1) The first pleasant surprise was how easily I connected it to my phone (Redmi 8, four years old). It recognized the Bluetooth headphones very easily, so I started using it as soon as I took it out of the box.
2) For its size, it feels lightweight, the strap it has is practical, and it feels very comfortable in my hand. It leaves a very good impression in terms of build quality. Now, if you start dropping it or banging it against corners of walls as you walk, you understand that everything has its limits... It fell from my desk and the screen cracked on the tiles. Luckily, nothing happened to it, but I wouldn't want to try it again.
3) It has countless functions and the measurements it takes are accurate in everything I have tested. It has a bunch of pre-set programs and workout statistics, either on its own or through its app, but because I am not an athlete, I will focus more on the connection with the phone. Through the app, I can easily determine from which mobile apps it receives data (Viber, SMS, emails, calendar, etc.) and I can adjust any setting. The only annoying thing is that when it receives a message, for example, from Viber, it shows it to you again and again until you read it on your phone so that it considers it read. If you don't read it on your phone and simply delete the message from the watch, it will show it to you again as if it came for the first time.
4) For enthusiasts, there is the possibility to create their own watch faces (I created one and use it, but it is very time-consuming). There are plenty of free watch faces and you will surely find something you like.
5) As for the battery, if you try to make the most of its capabilities, meaning workout programs and calls, it will last you 4-5 days with heavy use. If you use it as a watch, it will easily last 2 weeks. It charges quickly and if you try to put it on the charger upside down, it repels it, so it doesn't allow you to make a mistake and damage it.
6) Its screen is very good and clear, and it won't bother you in outdoor spaces with a lot of light.
7) Using it for calls is good, but I wouldn't do it if there are others around. Maybe I'm not used to it...
8) You cannot write a real response to a message from SMS, Viber, email, etc. You can set up pre-set responses or use some ready-made ones, but it's not practical.
Very mediocre build quality, the screen scratches very easily and the plastic around the screen does the same. In terms of technology, it is excellent, very user-friendly and has great battery life. I only have to charge it once a week and it has very good speaker volume. Calls are all okay. The downside is that it disconnects from the phone (Xiaomi 11T) and it doesn't pair automatically, you have to do it again every time
Like the previous reviewer, after 10 swims in the sea, the watch stopped working... The store refunded my money because the watch was still under warranty...
Coming from the honor magic watch 2, I have to say that this watch is the best. I received it a week ago with 70% battery and I have literally used it non-stop and it still has 18% battery left. The screen is very clear and the build quality is excellent. It is also very fast. It has countless functions with very accurate measurements
It does not accurately measure pulses for a serious athlete, it is inappropriate, it misses measurements, you can run for example to have raised 150 pulses and the watch says 80 and then it disconnects after 15 minutes... disgrace

I've had it for 2 weeks. It's very good, but I'm not sure if it's worth 160 euros? It's my first smartwatch. It seems to have good measurements without me comparing it to anything, but in general, no matter what I had, I wouldn't trust the measurements 100%. The only thing I don't really like is the strap. It doesn't fit well with the silicone, maybe I'll try leather. And I don't know how well the screen can withstand tempered glass, it's probably a good idea. Otherwise, it's very nice and generally a good purchase for someone who wants to get something with moderate money. For something cheaper, go for the mini and for something more expensive, go for a garmin, I would say.

Owner of Amazfit GTR 1 and Garmin vivoactive. Marathon runner for 16 years. It meets all my needs and more. GPS accuracy and music either from the speaker or Bluetooth headphones, and a fitness tracker. The zepp app records and analyzes almost everything at a reasonable price. Personally, I am very satisfied and recommend it.
Coming from the Huawei gt2, I was surprised by how lightweight and comfortable it feels on my hand. At first, due to the weight difference, the construction seemed inferior, but after wearing it constantly for 2 months and having taken several hits at work without any damage, I think there is no problem. The measurement is excellent, the GPS is very good, it is equivalent to that of a smartphone and definitely much better than the gt2. With continuous stress and oxygen measurement turned off and without wearing it during sleep, the battery lasts for 8 days. I haven't tried it with everything turned on, but you can draw your own conclusions. Overall, I am very satisfied, the smart functions are the ones I need and that's why I didn't look for anything else. At the price it costs now, when prices are sky-high, it is a very good purchase.
