The G.Skill Ripjaws is aimed at demanding computer users, such as gamers, professionals in the field of video and image processing, designers, and those who require high performance from their laptop or compact PC.

DDR4

DDR4 is the fourth generation of RAM memory technology for computers. It replaces DDR3 and offers increased speeds and capacity.

It offers operating speeds from 2133MT/s to 4800MT/s, response time (CAS Latency) from CL 9 to CL 22, while its capacity has increased up to 32GB per memory unit.

For speed (MT/s) and capacity (GB), the larger size we choose, the better performance we will have in our system, while for response time (CL), we want the smallest size for the speed (MT/s) we have chosen.

The above characteristics should be compatible with our motherboard specifications.

The Ripjaws V provides speed at 2400MT/s, with CL16 and 4GB per memory unit.

Compatibility

The DDR4 technology is compatible with specific motherboards and processors. Specifically, DDR4 is compatible with Intel Skylake, Kaby Lake, Coffee Lake series processors, as well as the latest Intel processors, and AMD Ryzen and Threadripper series processors.

However, for compatibility with your motherboard, you need to make sure that your motherboard supports DDR4 technology from the manufacturer. Compatibility depends on the processor platform and the type of motherboard you are using.

XMP & EXPO

The XMP & EXPO is a technology that allows us to increase the frequency and performance of our computer's memory, without the need for manual settings. (XMP/ EXPO) is easily enabled from the BIOS, is available on certain RAM memories, and is supported by certain motherboards.

The G.Skill Ripjaws has (XMP/ EXPO) profiles with the following performance:

  • Speed (XMP/ EXPO): 2400 MT/s
  • CAS Latency (XMP/ EXPO): 16-16-16-39
  • Voltage (XMP/ EXPO): 1.20V


Cooling & Design

The aluminum construction material helps keep the memory and the entire computer at a relatively low temperature even during demanding operations.
